I foolishly sent an internet message to a well-known bass trombonist:

"I greatly admire and respect your artistry. Thank you."

I have heard that by doing such a horrible thing that I have limited myself to never being as good or near the league of that person. Can you good folks help me with this? This is a rather large deal to me. I assume that he received it and that the event took place, but I'd like it to not affect anything that I'm doing in music.
